Stop Taking Money From Jeepney Drivers!

Posted on January 27, 2007. Filed under: Life, Personal, Pinoy |

In other words, stop using discounts when riding on jeepneys! Stop taking a peso from them because it adds up.

Think about it.

Yes, it may be your right to take that discount but come on. If you’re reading this blog you wouldn’t probably be needing that extra peso.

I mean would you look at their situation.

Inhaling polluted air of the metro day in and day out. When they come home everyday they complain shortness of breath and chest pain. After years of exposure they develop cancer. Incurable. Even if it were, they wouldn’t have the money to pay for the medical bills.

Show some generosity!

I understand the predicament jeepney drivers are in as you so very well described… and yes, I agree that every single centavo matters to someone who hardly makes ends meet. But, just like some people would like us to show compassion to our fellow pinoys behind the wheel, likewise these jeepney drivers should at least follow traffic rules and regulations. More often than not, they jeopardize the lives of passengers as they swerve from side to side, zooming past other vehicles, stopping on a dime and even loading in the middle of the road. Regardless of how hard-up these people are, it doesn’t excuse them from the reckless manner of driving they exhibit.
It is quite hard at times to feel compassion towards someone who acts like a jerk. I don’t wish to generalize, but the truth is… almost all of them are like this.
And when they get into an accident with another vehicle (which more often than not is a cause of their foolhardy ways), they will just scratch their head and look like fools. :)

Yes I can’t help but to agree on all your points. I ride the jeep everyday and yes it’s really rare to find a driver who’s not a jerk :)

I guess being poor, tired, having to face all kinds of crap all day etc.. makes them that way. I’m not saying that as an excuse for them. I’m saying that because that’s the way it is.

Bush goes ballistic about other countries being evil and dangerous, because they have weapons of mass destruction. But, he insists on building up even a more deadly supply of nuclear arms right here in the US. What do you think? Why has bush turned our country from a country of hope and prosperity to a country of belligerence and fear.
If ever there was ever a time in our nation’s history that called for a change, this is it!
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!

Uh, hello? cough cough
